Ladder Safety Training Course

Under the Health & Safety at Work 1974 and Work at Height 2005 Regulations, every person in the chain leading up to, and including, the final user, has a duty of care to both themselves and others to know and understand the practical implications of working safely at height.

The Active Access In-House Ladder Safety Course will enable delegates to:

  • Select appropriate work at height equipment for a task
  • Assess and determine when it is appropriate to use ladders and stepladders
  • Correctly locate and safely use ladders and stepladders
  • Inspect ladders and stepladders for damage.

Upon successful completion, each delegate will receive an Active Access Certificate as proof of competence.

IPAF Operator (3a, 3b, 1b) Training Course

This course is suitable for operators to prepare and safely operate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) in order to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operators Licence. Upon successful completion, each delegate will receive an IPAF PAL card (Powered Access Licence), valid for 5 years.

Objectives
At the end of the course the operator will:

  • Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety Regulations
  • Operate the MEWP safely and manoeuvre the machine as required, to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner, inside and outside a building
  • Know the pre-use checks and daily maintenance to be carried out prior to commencing work
  • Know the correct and safe method of operating the specific machine and be aware of accident prevention and control
  • Be familiar with the correct emergency procedures, capacities and limitations
  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual
  • Understand the selection and use of fall prevention equipment covering, as a minimum, anchorage points in platforms, harness standards, explanation of fall arrest, lanyard types, harness inspection, use and correct fitting, rescue procedures, current recommendations (HSE & IPAF H1/05/05).
