Asbestos Awareness Training Course

To provide candidates with an awareness of likely sources of Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s) and have sufficient knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with working with Asbestos-Related Products. Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will understand the control measures essential to ensure safe systems of work whilst working with Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s). These objectives will be achieved through a mixture of presentations, DVD’s produced by HSE & CITB ConstructionSkills and group discussions around the asbestos essentials. At the end of the session there will be a short written theory test.

  • Asbestos – What is Asbestos? – Asbestos Types, Structure, Terminology
  • Asbestos Properties – Why was Asbestos used? Discussing the industrial properties that made Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s) so popular in the UK.
  • Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s) – Where can Asbestos be found and how can we recognise it? A discussion around likely sources of Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s) and the daily duties carried out by candidates.
  • Hazards and Risks – What harm Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s) can cause and how it causes harm.
  • Safety & Control Measures – Safe Working Practices for dealing with Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s). Group discussion on task management, safety protocols, handling, storage and transportation of Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM’s).
